News Update: Optimized Breathable Packaging Solves Fresh Produce Spoilage Challenges

Created on 06.15
Recently, we have successfully helped an overseas organic vegetable delivery platform resolve a tough packaging issue.
The client’s leafy greens including lettuce, spinach and bok choy would turn yellow shortly after packaging. Customer complaints rose sharply from 10% to 25%, largely due to excessive moisture buildup inside fully sealed bags. Vegetables generate moisture through natural respiration, and poor air circulation inevitably leads to rapid wilting and spoilage within 48 hours.
To address this pain point, we adopted custom food-grade micro-perforated breathable bags. With hole size strictly controlled between 0.3mm and 0.5mm, and perforation density professionally calculated according to the respiration rate of different vegetables, the packaging realizes efficient gas exchange and stable humidity inside.
After implementation, remarkable improvements have been achieved:
  • The shelf life of leafy greens is extended from 1-2 days to 3-5 days
  • Complaints caused by discoloration are cut by around 60%
  • Food waste is greatly reduced, helping the client save substantial operational costs
For fresh food distributors and retailers worldwide, proper breathability is essential for packaging quality. We specialize in developing tailor-made breathable packaging solutions for all kinds of fresh produce.
